About Andrew Gillett and Roger Tetlow
Andrew Gillett studied law at Reading University. He has been with the CLA as a solicitor since 2010 answering CLA members’ legal queries and taking part in policy work. Andrew was appointed Chief Legal Adviser in March 2019. He has overall responsibility for matters covered by the legal advisory team, and also advises on public rights of way – often where new routes are claimed over members’ land – trespass, occupiers’ liability, firearms and field sports. He was involved in lobbying for a change to the Animals Act 1971 which led to the Control of Horses Act 2015 providing landowners with significant powers to deal with fly-grazing horses.
Roger Tetlow is a solicitor with over 30 years’ experience of property-related law. He advises CLA members with queries relating to conveyancing issues, land registration, private rights of way issues, boundary disputes and business leases. He has been with the CLA for 17 years and previously worked for the National Trust and in private practice in Wiltshire.
