Approval from Northumberland County Council has been granted for a ground-breaking play village at The Alnwick Garden. The plans are set to boost the town’s economy by up to £7M every year.
Lilidorei Play Village will create the largest play structure in the world, with an enchanted village woodland theme. With plans now approved, The Garden is in a position to source funding for the project. Lilidorei will create 56 full-time jobs, as well as 40 temporary jobs for local craftsmen during construction.
Mark Brassell, director at The Alnwick Garden Trust said, “We are delighted that members of the Strategic Planning Committee have followed the recommendation of council officers and approved our plans for Lilidorei Play Village.
“Lilidorei will be a benchmark for outdoor play, a truly unique visitor attraction to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Our plans will create a year-round visitor attraction, bringing tourists and their spending power to the region throughout the year”.
“With planning permission secured, we look forward to identifying funding partners to deliver this exciting new tourist attraction in the heart of Alnwick.”
